Ladies,
It was a great meet. The weather was fine, the efforts were there, and you all, each and every one, improved. In that respect, a coach could not ask for more. Let's look at some numbers:

I always like to look at the drop from mile 1 to mile 2, and typically I don't like to see that move more than 10 seconds. It's not always that easy though, and tonight's course is one of those cases. The second mile of this course is probably the most challenging, so there is going to be a natural drop in time there.
Having said that, look at what Diana and Lauren did in mile 2. That's right, they went faster! Then Lauren finished it off with an even faster mile 3! That's pretty stinkin' awesome, and might just have earned run of the night. It culminated in another PR, so... tough to beat that. Diana, you were pretty close behind. Way to help one another out on the course. Very nice.
Carrie also had a negative split on the third mile. With only a slight dip in the middle mile, this was a very solid effort start to finish. It's only slightly slower than my suggested pace, and I have no complaints at all.
Danielle did a super job setting it up. She tends to control the early portion of hard efforts, whether it's intervals or racing. She's a solid leader that doesn't always get the credit she deserves. Carrie has explosive breakaway speed and it's hard for Danielle to cover those bursts - something to work on! - but I cannot say enough for the hard work she does every day. Today, those efforts helped not only herself, but her teammate.
Bret got caught out in the crowd early, and lost contact with Danielle and Carrie. That's one of those moments that happen in racing, where you have a split-second to choose your path. It's the only part of the game Bret needs work on, because she is a stud everywhere else. She had a great drop from the last meet, and there's even more easy time to get yet.
Madison is starting to sort this thing out. She's taken a cautious, methodical approach to 5k racing, which isn't stupid at all. Still, she's much stronger than she believes, as she found out tonight. It was a great drop of nearly a minute in a week, and there's still a lot more to come. Great work!
Kaitlyn is moving along a similar arc to Madison. The only thing missing is a summer of running. We'll cover that next summer. For now, she is improving so fast, and has earned her top-7 position quickly.
Keeley, you were aggressive. That was the plan. Sure, you faded in the second mile, more in the third. Maybe you could have run faster with an even pace, but let's face it; that's not how you race. You'll get in better shape though, and you'll hopefully hold that hard effort a little farther every time.
Carlee and Chloe - you ran together like we planned, and once your pace settled back a bit, you held it evenly. Chloe held it together slightly better by the end, but you definitely helped one another out there. Both of you dropped nice time from the last meet.
McKena, told you this was going to be a great meet for you. You dropped just under 3 minutes from last week, and that's a fantastic effort. You're another I wish we'd seen all summer, but despite that you are beginning to get into good shape. It'll really make a difference for you when you get there.
Nicole, we wanted a smooth effort, and that's what we got. You were not the last runner in the race, and you finished under control and looking strong. That's a win!
