Crawford County Results - Sorta

Ladies,

A few things about Crawford County:

  • It's tough to come back from Brown County the week before and run this course. Brown County is beautiful, flat, and smooth. This course is rolling and rough. It is not realistic to expect time drops - in fact, it's far more likely the times will be slower.
  • The race organization here is awful. We won't have results for a few days. The meet manager has found a lot of ways to make his own life harder, and it appears he's pretty good at it.
  • This race is about experience and toughing it out.

Now I can share with you the specious results I do have. Note: I do NOT have anything official yet. That won't happen for a few days yet. If then.

The splits I'm fairly certain of, the final times I am not. That's roughly what you told me, and to be honest, for now, good enough to rank your finishes and talk about your efforts.

This course is worth around a minute of time from Brown County. You can look back on my blog and compare both meets over the last four years and you will see that's pretty much true. So... if you were anywhere near the time you did last week, you were doing outstanding. If you beat last weeks time, you did something special.

Two girls did beat their times - Delaney and Kate. For Delaney, that was a solid effort throughout. Her form looked good from beginning to end. She also looked focused. That's the big thing to take out of this one - how to hold together when it gets tough.

The big winner was Kate. She dropped 30 seconds from last meet, and came within 10 seconds of a PR. That's a huge run, and I hope the signal I've been waiting to see... that she's in it to see how far she can go. We all win if that's the case.

Baili had a strong race. It was slower than last week, but she finished 9th in the seniors and 16th overall in a strong field. That's competing!

Danielle looked great again too. It wasn't her best time, but so what? She medaled, and was strong from start to finish.

Zoe is getting better every day. She hauled in a 15th place, got her medal, and all that despite her shin brace falling to her ankle during the race.

Ani started hard and faded a bit, but it was not a terrible time. As I've said, the course is much harder than last week. A slow down was highly likely.

Katlyn struggled with a quad muscle but still managed a solid effort. It's a hard road coming back, but she's a trooper.

I will touch on this again when I get results in hand. For now, rest. Monday comes soon enough.
