Ladies,
I can't go too much into this tonight... it's already after 11 PM as I write this, and I do have work tomorrow. Let me just lay the numbers out there and give you some quick thoughts.

A couple of things to note:
- Under finish, darker green means season's best, or possibly best all-time for you.
- Pay attention to your starting mile pace and compare that to your average pace. The closer those are together, the better your race likely went for you. Separate it by a minute or more and you probably melted down out there somewhere.
More stuff - injuries are killing us. Without Joslyn we had in the neighborhood of 80 points added to our score. That would have put us ahead of Jeffersonville in 3rd. Obviously we have to be sure to take no chances the rest of the season. We can't afford to lose anyone else.
Good news: Zoe and Kate were able to run this meet without much trouble. Zoe will be able to start limited speed work this week. Kate, with another week to heal, should also be able to run stronger. In the JV race, Katlyn dropped around a minute from her last meet. A few more like that and the old Katlyn will be back, just in time for tournament. In fact, we had over half our runners run season's bests tonight. With Madison and Cynthaney running again, who knows how things will shake out.
Moving forward: Coach Jo was talking to me during the meet about the direction of the team and I felt it best if she addressed you directly. I could have had the talk, in fact, I've had a few talks with you the last couple of weeks. It was time to hear it from someone else, and to be honest she's far more experienced a coach with girls than myself. She was right too, you know... everything we need to succeed is in place, everything except a unified direction. Girls, you ALL have to get on board now and remember what you are fighting for.
In practice, if the team keeps letting Carrie run off and leave, you can expect the same thing to happen in meets. She's out there because she's willing to hurt to win. Can anyone realistically believe they are going to magically catch her race day if the gap in training goes up with each passing day? Does that even make sense? If I was Carrie, I would lay it on everyone harder each day. If I was behind Carrie, I would fight every day to close the gap. Maybe she would beat me, but she would have to earn it. In the end she can only go so fast, and with hard work, I can go that fast too. Take that attitude girls, and you all get fast, and the team would be frighteningly good.
Brown County is next week. It will be cooler, and quite a bit more enjoyable. For now, rest.
