Ladies,
For some of you, this is the last week of the season. After the Ted Fox Invite, there is only Conference, Sectional, and Regional (for certain). I have to turn in a list of 12 runners for those races, and we have 18 runners. Some will not make the roster. I hate that, but we have to deal with it.
Ted Fox is a good meet for us. Typically we get really fast times there. That's important, because for some of you it will be the last time this season (or ever) to make the top-25 all-time board. To make it, currently you need to break 23:04 on the course. That spot is currently held by Morgan Benstin. She is holding onto it by the slimmest of margins - Baili was 23:05 her first meet!
It gets tougher as you move on of course, but this much is true; we have a number of girls who have a fair shot at getting on there. With up to three chances left this year, it comes down to taper.
Ah, taper. That time of the year when the rest begins and the real fast times begin. This is what it is all about. This is what you've struggled so long to get to. We just have to hang in there a little longer. Just a little longer...
If you are nursing hurt, please, ice, stretch, bind if you have to, do what must be done to stay upright. The team is split evenly right now between people who are healthy and on the rise and those that are hurt and hobbling in to the finish. Please, no one (else) do anything foolish until the season is over! Just one more month!
We will do speed work tomorrow, though not everyone will do it. We will likely have a swim workout for some of you this week, and we are looking at taking Friday off again. That's the thumbnail of the week. Of course this will depend on us getting good workouts between now and then.
